End-of year is typically the busiest time of year for us, as we work hard to deliver high-quality solutions for our clients and establish future work. In this update, we want to share some of our completed projects, projects under design and future work.
We are proud to announce that we have completed the design of several projects in the past few months, including the Brass Buttons project on Lake Austin (construction to begin in a few weeks), final site planning and design for a new, 12 building office park in Lakeway and renovation / permitting for a home renovation project, also located in Lakeway. Not to mention several other projects in the surrounding area.
Looking ahead, we have some exciting new projects that are in progress. This includes the planning, design and construction administration of a new a modern church in Spicewood, a prohibition styled guest house in The Hills, a Scandinavian cabin in Bear Lake, Michigan and a construction documents of a new Golf Prairie Villa in Horseshoe Bay. These projects demonstrate our ability to address complex challenges and opportunities with innovative and context-sensitive design strategies.

Canyon Lake Garage Expansion / Guest Suite Addition
Under Construction: A two-story garage / workshop addition with a three bedroom apartment, including a new master suite, and functionality to an existing garage - all without compromising the character of the original vacation home.
Canyon Lake Hill Country Modern Home
Under Construction: The luxurious hill country home showcases a modern expression of country-style architecture in a tranquil setting, with remarkable spatial zones-indoor and outdoor.
Nestled in nature with 4460 sq. ft of living space, it includes four plush bedrooms, four relaxing baths, office space and enlivening outdoor spaces. Architecturally, the rustic finished house integrates strategic volumes, along with an array of slope roofs stacked in various elevated configurations.
Cornerstone Church - Spicewood
Design in Progress: The primary objective was to create a cost-efficient church that can support our clients current and future needs. The building is comprised of a pre-engineered building (chapel space) and conventional construction (the classroom and support space).
This project showcases a bold and modern design that aligns with the churches branding and mission. It is located near Lakeway, along Highway 71 on a beatufil hill side and will serve the local community for years to come.
In the next few months, we will move forward to the final engineering and construction drawings.
Water Home - Horseshoe Bay
Presale Package Completed: Nestled in a delightful waterscape with blooming natural vegetation all around, the Water Home designed by Motif Architects is a one-of-a-kind, all-inclusive contemporary dwelling tailored to unwind, groove and chill.
Water Home presents a leisure living canvas, with spaces expertly arranged in three levels on a terrain that runs down to a stunning lake. Sailing through the winding arcs of the waterway, you arrive at a boat deck protruding from the house. From the lake, the residence imparts a majestic vibe, with its upper tiers flaunting their terraced sun decks like a magnificent yacht in a harbor.
Brass Buttons Renovation
In Construction: Built in 1980's, the home sits almost 200 ft above the tranquil headwaters of Lake Austin nestled in a grove of old oaks. The three story house is located on the edge of the bluff, in order to capture views of the surrounding hills & the waterfront area created to capture the beauty of the crystal clear waters of Lake Austin.
The waterfront is located at the lowest area of the property, accessed by stone stairs or a short golf cart drive down to the lake via a gated private entrance.
Golf Villa - Horseshoe Bay
Construction Documents in Progress: A golfer's true dream home, located near Lake LBJ and Ram Rock golf course. This is a home that embraces nature and offers 4938 sq. ft of living space. It has four luxurious bedrooms, four baths, office space, and lively outdoor spaces. The house has a modern design that combines different volumes and sloped roofs at various heights.
The house is also equipped with smart home features, audio-video systems, built-in grills, marble counters, ash flooring, and limestone veneer accent walls. These are some of the details that make this project unique and sophisticated.
Bee Creek Office Park
Final Construction Documents: We are currently planning and designing a 12 building office park in Bee Caves. The project will utilize a prototype building, that will house 12-24 tenants near Lake Travis Middle School.
More information to surface soon, once permitting is completed and construction begins (within the next few months).
Lakeway Home Renovation and Expansion
Under Construction: Home renovation in the Texas Hill Country can be a rewarding and challenging project for homeowners who want to create their own dream space. Whether it’s updating the kitchen, adding a deck, or transforming the bathroom, there are many ways to customize and improve your home.However, home renovation also requires a lot of planning, preparation, and skill.
This project, located off of Hurst Creek is currently under construction and will boast an extra mother-in-law suite along with newly configure spaces and an open floor plan. Renovation work to be completed by next summer.
Lakeway Lease House
Completed Fall 2023: Crafted with a vision to etch a prudent home, tracing a simple and economical layout, Motif Architects designed ‘Lakeway Lease House’, a humble home for enjoyment-year round.
The plans outline a functional scheme of arrangement. The exterior façade showcases a combination of board and batten along with shiplap fiber cement board. Composite roofing stylized in a staggered form at varying levels adds a dynamic expression to the house. Awnings are provided over every door with tongue-and-groove wood soffits.
The Hills Guest House - New Construction
Design in progress: One of our newest projects, this new guest house is located in the center of The Hills and will boast a "prohibition / speakeasy" vibe. The program includes a full office, kitchenette, bathroom and guest bedroom.

Bear Lake Vacation Home - Bear Lake, Michigan
Nestled on a sloping terrain of enchanting wilderness and tall pine trees, Motif Architects have envisioned an all-inclusive modern abode with everything - indoor and outdoor. As you arrive by the Spruce Ridge road sits Camp Canfield, a large private property cradled within the woods.
The dwelling takes the form of a rectilinear plan capped by gabled A-roofs and a facade finished in grey sidings, textured stone, black mullions, wooden posts and beams. The entry crowned by a timber-finished queen post truss leads you into a double-height foyer. From here, the dwelling steps into stunning spacious sections enriched with sophisticated interiors. As an investment project, the clients from Texas plan to use the house for short-term rentals and also as their family vacation home.
An immense family living with a fireplace and an extended full-fledged kitchen with an island counter and large dining become the heart of the home. Beyond the kitchen is a corridor that stems into a luxurious bedroom with an attached bath and closet. This ground-floor bedroom can also be accessed via a secondary outdoor entrance - furnishing an option to use it as a guest room.
The living extends further into another immense dining area with a vaulted ceiling. The entire space leads to a cosy all-season covered patio, screened by large windows that look out to the scenic Bear Lake and its surrounding nature. An outdoor stairway slashed alongside the covered deck leads to the basement of the building.
An internal staircase abutting the foyer at the front takes you to the first level. A lavish primary bedroom with an ensuite bath and wide closet along with two bedrooms and a bunk bedroom honour this floor. A crew of black framed windows in various sizes dramatizes the elevation of the house with an eclectic style - and each one of them captures a picturesque view!
Bear Lake Scandinavian Home - Bear Lake, Michigan
Design in progress: With 2,300 square feet, the house offers three bedrooms, one bunk room, a kids nook and two bathrooms. It was designed to be a comfortable cabin for two or a large retreat for up to 12 guest. The entertainment loft level has dormer windows and flexible living spaces that can be closed off when not in use.

Design in progress: Stay tuned for this one.. a modern, two bedroom home with a 9 car garage! Yes.. 9 cars!!! We cant give too many details away just yet!

Big Horn Modern - Lake Travis
Design Kick-off: Our latest project, Big Horn Modern.. this three story house will overlook Mansfield Dam and situated on Lake Austin, across from Bellagio Estates of Steiner Ranch.
We cannot share too many details about this project just yet.. however its going to be incredible. The client has big ambitions and we look forward to crafting their vision into an amazing lake home.
