Over the past month, we have been collaborating closely with the Parks and Recreation Department at The Hills to develop a schematic design and cost estimate package for a transformative project. Our goal is to convert an existing 2,100 sqft open-air pavilion into a conditioned, all-seasons recreation building. This innovative project is designed to enhance the usability and appeal of the pavilion throughout the year, making it a versatile and vibrant community space.
The new recreation building will feature insulated glass garage doors, which will allow for seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor environments while maintaining comfort. Additionally, the project includes the installation of a small kitchenette, an audio/video package for events, and an outdoor stage designed for music performances and food vendors. These enhancements will provide the community with a space suitable for a variety of activities and gatherings, fostering a sense of community and engagement.
While this project is considered a "slow burner," we are genuinely excited about the opportunities it presents for collaboration.
Engaging with community leadership and local vendors is a key aspect of our approach, and we are eager to work together to develop a truly unique and impactful recreational space. By harnessing the collective expertise and creativity of the community, we aim to create a project that not only meets the current needs but also sets a benchmark for future developments in the area.
Coming up Next
Over the next month, we have several key steps planned to advance this project. First, we will create a 3D model of the existing pavilion to provide a clear visual representation of the current structure. Following this, we will develop a design scheme for feedback, ensuring that all stakeholders have the opportunity to review and provide input on the proposed changes.
We will also generate marketing and printed collateral for the Parks and Recreation Department, which will be instrumental in communicating the project's vision and garnering community support.
In addition to these tasks, we will seek approval from the city council before moving forward with the development of a pricing package. This step is crucial for ensuring that the project aligns with local regulations and receives the necessary support. Our team will then develop a set of documents that a third-party estimator can use to provide detailed cost information.
Finally, we will meet again with the city to secure funding and approval for permit documentation and engineering, ensuring that the project progresses smoothly towards completion.
