The Hills of Lakeway - Gypsum Wall Board and Bathroom Wall Tile

This week marked significant progress on our project in The Hills as the team swiftly installed the gypsum wallboard. The efficiency of the crew was impressive, with all the gypsum being put up within a matter of hours. Following the installation, the walls were meticulously taped and floated, setting the stage for the upcoming texture and paint. This process is crucial as it ensures a smooth and seamless surface, ready to receive the final finishes that will define the aesthetic and feel of the interior spaces.

Simultaneously, our tile contractor made remarkable strides in the bathroom by installing the shower wall tile and a flush-mounted floor drain. This task required careful coordination and review, particularly when it came to selecting the right grout.

To ensure the client's satisfaction, we provided a mock-up of the grout options, allowing them to make an informed choice. The successful placement of the bathroom tile not only enhances the functionality of the space but also contributes to its visual appeal, creating a cohesive and elegant look that aligns perfectly with the overall design vision for the project.

Gypsum Board Installation - AKA Drywall.

Installing drywall in new residential houses involves several meticulous steps to ensure a smooth and professional finish. The process begins with measuring and cutting the drywall sheets to fit the dimensions of the walls and ceilings. These sheets are then secured to the framing with drywall screws or nails, ensuring that they are firmly attached and properly aligned. Care is taken to ensure that the seams between sheets are tight and that the edges are properly aligned with the studs.

Once all the drywall sheets are in place, the next phase involves taping and floating, which is crucial for creating a seamless and polished look.

The tape and float process begins with applying joint tape over the seams between drywall sheets. This tape helps to hide the joints and provides a smooth surface for the application of joint compound. After the tape is in place, multiple layers of joint compound, also known as mud, are applied over the seams and screw holes. The first coat of mud is applied to embed the tape and is followed by additional coats to build up the surface and cover any imperfections.

Each layer is carefully smoothed and feathered out to blend with the surrounding drywall, ensuring a uniform surface. The process typically involves sanding between coats to remove any ridges or bumps, resulting in a perfectly smooth wall ready for texture and paint. This meticulous process is essential for achieving the flawless walls and ceilings that define a well-finished home interior.
